As part of my exhibition on Maintenance Tools of Body and City, I led an Art Workshop for older people with the Age UK Healthy Living and Learning Centre in Southwark. We gathered a collection of maintenance tools, household objects which one might use to maintain their bodies, as well as prompt imagery of enabling spaces in the city.

We had a discussion about the tools, practices and rituals we all use to maintain our bodies. Then, the participants were invited to respond to three exercises in artistic experimentation. We had lots of conversations throughout the session about art, the local area, favourite activities and hobbies and the olympics, and had drinks and biscuits. At the end we shared our artworks with one another through a group display on the Age UK Centre’s wall and had conversations around them whilst enjoying an ice lolly in the heat of the day!
