The 54 Art Show, Camberwell Green, London
Art Curation 2024
The 54 Art Show was my first exercise in curation. Located in a disused care home, the exhibition space occupied the ground floor of a guardianship which sits on Camberwell Green in the heart of South London. The process involved bringing together the work of 18 different artists from the guardianship, crossing 15 different art disciplines including: painting, drawing, video installation, glass sculpture, wood carving, plaster casting, illustration, photography, sound, embroidery, poetry and song. Through conversations with different artists in the building, I came to understand the siloed nature of their creative acts.
"Just as a film unfolds through sequences and scenes, architecture can be experienced through a series of spatial events that reveal different aspects of the design." Bernard Tschumi, The Architecture of disjunction.
